South Carolina born artist ‘drug’ is something of an enigma in the R&B space because he encompasses a multitude of alternative sounds. “I want them (the listener) to walk away with frequencies that heal and it’s not just about the hertz or speed, but the depth of passion in the performance.”
The music he creates could be described as Southern R&B with a tinge of Alternative Rock. Beginning his career in 2016, through a mutual mentor, he released an RnBass track “Favor 2.0” produced by South Florida and Jamaican artist BEAM. Over the next 3 years, drug released songs focusing on infectious guitar riffs and singable hooks. In 2019, He released “Moonlight 2.0, Vol. 1 (The Live Sessions). Recorded live in the studio with a trio featuring Grammy-Winning Venezuelan bassist Rodner Padilla, and Shalom Andre on drums. Later in 2019, drug released afro-pop record “Chemistry” produced by Nigerian producer/artist Daramola, which has over 75,000 streams on Audiomack and counting.
In 2020, during a global pandemic and entirely independent, drug released 5 consecutive singles over 5 months, “Sunset Blvd” (feat. Adam Dollar$), Miami bass record “Faded (Remix)” (feat. Fwea-Go Jit & DJ Addy), More Than I Can Bear (feat. Asaiah Ziv), Angel (produced by Brock), and in December 2020, drug released Home for Xmas featuring a bachata version of Feliz Navidad.
As we head into darker times drug’s music has been the remedy for many bringing his eclectic inspirations and unique sounds to every track he creates. Drug’s live album paved the way for him to start performing regularly and eventually dominating the South Florida scene. He’s been featured in publications such as RnBae, Mieux Magazine, GrungeCake, and Exclusive Access. Now’s the time to press play on one of the more versatile acts we have in music.
